The Society for Health And Physical Educators of South Dakota is a group of professionals collaborating to promote active life styles for all South Dakotans. We are striving to combat the obesity crisis by increasing lifelong physical activity and promoting healthy living. We are excited that we have the resources, tools, and knowledge to be the professionals leading this effort. We are SHAPE SD.

2025 Information

Speaker: Mark Friedrich

Friedrich is a veteran health and physical education teacher of 31 years, a National Presenter of Adventure Education / Team Building Activities, a Keynote Speaker and an OPEN National Trainer. Mark has taught both elementary and high school levels but finds his passion in adventure education at Millburn High School in New Jersey. Mark is the recipient of the 2016 New Jersey Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year and the 2021 SHAPE America Joy of Effort Award. Mark is making his first ever appearance to South Dakota and is honored to be part of the 2025 SHAPE South Dakota Convention.
